Ellie Goulding is still putting in work on her 4th LP. But she doesn’t plan on leaving us without content while she’s tinkering away in the studio. In a post on Twitter, the Brit revealed that she’d continue rolling out music. This serves dual purposes. Obviously, it keeps us well fed. The second reason is more personal. “It keeps me sane in this very odd world,” she wrote. And she been very generous in the last few months. In that time we’ve gotten a couple soundtrack contributions, collabs and singles including “Close To Me” and “Flux.” Most recently, she linked up with Juice WRLD on her love-hate anthem “Hate Me.”

“Hate me, hate me, still tryna replace me. Chase me, chase me, tell me how you hate me,” she sings to an ex. “Erase me, ‘rase me, wish you never dated me. Lies, tell me lies, baby, tell me how you hate me.” Effortlessly capturing the conflicted feelings one battles with after a breakup, the track seems to be resonating with the masses. It is rapidly closing in on 20 million Spotify streams in less than a month. And today (July 17), Ellie gives it a bump with the unveiling of a music video. Simple but impactful, it puts an interesting spin on the lyrics and also includes footage of the hitmaker riding a supersized knife.
