Charli XCX keeps us exceptionally well-fed. The 26-year-old churns out content at a prodigious rate. And she is the Queen of Collaborations. In the last few months, she’s linked up with the likes of Lizzo, Diplo and Herve Pagez, Jin, Jimin and Jungkook of BTS and Brooke Candy on certifiable bangers. Today (July 17), she joins forces with Christine And The Queens on her latest single “Gone.” The track, off her forthcoming album Charli, is a massively relatable ode to suffering from social anxiety. “I have to go, I’m so sorry. But it feels so cold in here,” the diva sings on the opening lines.

“I try real hard, but I’m caught up in my insecurities. Pour me one more, watch the ice melt in my fist.” Her partner in crime mirrors those feelings on a verse of her own. “I will lay down, but they’re staring. Their eyes like two shining stones. I see myself, and I look scared and confused. Wait, did they just talk? Why is it loud,” Chris sings. And they join forces on the chorus. Charli opened up about the release on Instagram. “This song is about those situations where you are surrounded by loads of people but feel so isolated and alone. I feel like that a lot of the time in social situations,” she admitted.

“This song is about breaking down but it’s also about breaking free. It feels like one big external scream. Both this song and video are a huge release of energy for me.” Directed by Colin Solal Cardo, the video quite literally sees them break free from opposite ends of a car. After liberating themselves, the duo perform on the roof as water rains down around them and deliver choreography with sparks in the background. Watch them in action and listen to their future hit below.
