It hasn’t even been a year since Alessia Cara dropped her sophomore album The Pains Of Growing. However, the 23-year-old is already gearing up to unveil a new project. Last week she hopped on social media to announce This Summer. “Caught the writing bug out of the blue and made an EP,” she explained. The collection is due to arrive September 6, but we’ll be getting plenty of music ahead of then. “I’ll be releasing a new track every couple of weeks until it’s release,” she added. Today (July 22), she officially launched the era with its lead single “Ready.”

Produced by Jon Levine and Midi Jones, her latest is a perfectly breezy anthem for the summer months. On it, Alessia urges a partner to take some time to care for themselves before diving into a relationship. “Go steady your, your heavy heart until you’re free. Until you’re ready for, ready for, ready for, ready for me,” she sings. Hopefully this is the song to send the Canadian hitmaker racing back up the Billboard Hot 100. Although The Pains Of Growing was met with warm reviews, none of it singles performed quite as well as “Here,” “Scars To Your Beautiful” or “Stay.”

This truly deserves that level of acclaim. But wait, there’s more. Today the siren also announced a fall tour. The show kicks off October 21 in Boston, Massachusetts. After hitting major markets across the US, it closes with a set in Houston, Texas on November 20. Tickets will be available as of this Friday (July 26). In the meantime, press play on “Ready” and check out the dates below.
