One To Watch: Ben Abraham’s “Satellite” Is Folk-Pop Poetry

Australian singer/songwriter Ben Abraham is the latest addition to Atlantic Records’ iconic roster of artists. The newcomer won rave reviews for his independently-released debut LP, Sirens, back in 2016, but he is perhaps best known for his songwriting prowess. (Ben co-wrote Kesha’s Grammy-nominated “Praying” and Demi Lovato’s “Smoke & Mirrors”). Which is on full display on his major label debut single. “Satellite” is a sublimely-written lullaby that offers words of comfort over an arrangement of strings and piano keys.

“When you think you lost the light, stuck in a starless night,” Ben sings on the chorus. “Lift your eyes and watch the sky, I’ll be your satellite.” It’s an unusually lovely start to his union with Atlantic Records. A situation, that he’s understandably thrilled about. “Their legacy is the stuff of legend,” he raves. “But they also have a reputation for taking great care of their artists and I’m excited to see what we can make together.” Fall in love with Ben’s major label debut single below.
