New Music! Mariah Carey Contributes “In The Mix” To ‘mixed-ish’
UPDATE: We have a release date. Mariah Carey drops “In The Mix” tomorrow (September 17). Listen to a snippet below.
We’ve yet to recover from the excellence that is Caution. However, Mariah Carey is readying the gift of more new music. Today (August 5), the 5-octave angel revealed she is voicing the theme song for ABC’s forthcoming series mixed-ish. Not only that, but she also wrote and produced the appropriately titled “In The Mix.” The song will premiere alongside the show September 24. “As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part of mixed-ish, especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved,” the skinny icon explained in a press release shared with ET.
“I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix’ for Kenya [Barris] and the show.” Mimi echoed the message and spread the good news with an equally grateful message on Instagram. “This is a dream come true,” she gushed. Mixed-ish acts as a spin-off of ABC’s black-ish. The new series is a prequel, which focuses on Tracee Ellis Ross’ character Rainbow and her experience growing up part of a mixed-race family. With any luck, we’ll get a taste of Mariah’s contribution in the coming weeks. In the meantime, check out her announcement below.
