Pop Emergency! Justin Timberlake Hits The Studio With Lizzo
2019 has been an incredible year for Lizzo. The 31-year-old climbed the Billboard Hot 100 with her belated hit “Truth Hurts.” She’s taken up residency in the chart’s Top 5 and landed another viral smash with “Juice” at the top of the year. Not only that, but her new album Cuz I Love You rocketed up the Billboard 200 and peaked within the Top 10. That’s carrying over to nominations for Best New Artist and Push Artist Of The Year at the 2019 VMAs. And she’s not done yet. Now it looks like the “Tempo” hitmaker is cooking up something feisty with Justin Timberlake.
Our source? The “Say Something” crooner’s own Instagram account. Yesterday (August 15), he shared a video of himself inside the recording studio with Lizzo. In it, the duo are seen dancing while a track plays in the background. It’s unclear what exactly they’re working on. But it would make sense that it is a duet. If so, I hope it lands on JT’s sixth studio album. He’s already posted a couple hints that a follow-up to last year’s Man Of The Woods is in the works. In particular, he teased a reunion with frequent collaborator Timbaland back in March.
It will be interesting to see what sonic direction he explores this time around. Although Man Of The Woods yielded two Top 10 hits, some critics found the sonics to be a bit of a misfire. Considering Lizzo’s incredible hot streak, there’s no doubt that whatever they cook up would be a step in the right direction. Check out Justin’s teaser below.
