Ava Max is kicking off the new week with another musical gem. The rising star has been feeling particularly generous of late. Since dropping a remix of her empowering “So Am I” featuring K-Pop supergroup NCT 127, she’s kept the hits coming. Next up came dual releases “Freaking Me Out” and “Blood, Sweat & Tears.” Then she teamed up with AJ Mitchell on the romantic “Slow Dance.” Next up is her official new single “Torn.” Out today (August 19), it’s a disco-tinged bop of the highest caliber.

On it, the 25-year-old cops to feeling very conflicted about a relationship. “You take all the light away but then you give me fireworks,” Ava sings on the stuttering open lines. “I think of leaving night and day. But then you always find the words.” She rides that wave of emotions into the chorus. “I wanna stay, wanna walk out the door. Oh, no. Right now, baby, I’m torn. I can’t get enough, can’t take anymore.” The Best New Artist VMA-nominee opened up about the song in a press release.

“Love and hate are two of the strongest emotions we feel in relationships,” she explained. “‘Torn’ explores the struggle between them that everyone can relate to. I’m so excited to share my new single with the world!” Ava also urged us to keep an eye peeled for the accompanying video, which is “coming soon.” In the meantime check out “Torn” below.
