Spelling Is No Longer Fun? Taylor Swift Uploads Edited Version Of “ME!”

It looks like Taylor Swift is making a last-minute change to the lead single off Lover. The album drops Friday (August 23). However, Swifties are noticing a minor update to its Brendon Urie-assisted “ME!.” The feel-good anthem arrived earlier this year and peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was heralded as a return to brighter sonics following the icy beats of Reputation. But some criticized the lyrics for being childish. That was especially the case for the much-maligned “Hey, Kids! Spelling is fun.”

Well… It looks like those criticisms have been taken to heart. As of today (August 21), the line has been removed on Apple Music. It’s worth noting that the song remains in its original form on Spotify. Taylor also didn’t change the official video, which has been viewed more than 255 million times. At the time of publishing, the 29-year-old hasn’t commented on the choice. However, fans are waiting to see what version will land on the official tracklist come Friday. We’ll have to wait and see what she decides to go with.

Either way, there’s no denying that Lover is going to be one of the year’s top-selling LPs. Yesterday reports broke that it was approaching one million global sales based on pre-order alone. While we wait for the rest of it to arrive, revisit the “ME!” video with the now-iconic line below.
