Taylor Swift really saved the best for last. After kicking off the Lover era with the frothy pop of “ME!,” the superstar showcased her versatility with “You Need To Calm Down” and “The Archer.” She then rolled out the title track, an achingly lovely ballad that holds its own against anything in her discography. The visual, which Taylor co-directed with Drew Kirsch, arrived this afternoon and it is suitably romantic. It’s also surprisingly whimsical and intricate in its use of dimension and color.

The clip (below) begins with the camera panning into a snow globe, the fantastical home of Taylor and her man. Inside a pastel-colored dollhouse, the 29-year-old plays multiple instruments, relaxes with her other half and goes for a swim inside a fish bowl. It’s quintessentially Swift-ian, in the best possible way. “Lover” isn’t the record-breaking artist’s only release today. She’s also dropping the similarly titled album at midnight. With nearly one million in pre-sales, it’s destined to be another smash.
