Lewis Capaldi Interview
We speak to the Brit about his debut LP and breakout hit, 'Someone You Loved.'

Lewis Capaldi struck gold when he turned heartache into a chart-conquering ballad. Since being released in 2018, “Someone You Loved” has cracked the top 10 in all major markets except the US where it is currently sitting at number 11. The gut-wrenching anthem should climb a lot higher in the weeks to come thanks to growing airplay, increased awareness and a new video. The second “Someone You Loved” video finds the Brit being guided by concerned friends after a rough breakup. Which makes it slightly less depressing than the organ donation-themed original.

“I wanted to show another side to the song,” the breakout star explains in the press release. “For me the video is about the people we surround ourselves with that have the strength when we don’t and help us continue to make the right decisions in moments of fear or hardship. In the moment we often choose to ignore friends and family, thinking our judgement is better, but of course in hindsight when you’re in that headspace it’s almost impossible to make the right decisions.” Watch the new, Ozzie Pullin-directed video below and revisit the original here.
