Miley Cyrus Is Left In The Wreckage In Her “Slide Away” Video

Miley Cyrus is left to pick up the pieces in her “Slide Away” video. Out today (September 6), the Alexandre Moors-directed release puts a fresh spin on the seemingly autobiographical breakup song. In it, the fabulously dressed 26-year-old is surrounded by a mess after a party. Via a series of grainy, high-speed flashbacks, the event from the night before comes into focus. And it looks like an absolute rager complete with drugs, sex and alcohol. Through it all, the “Mother’s Daughter” seems somehow apart from it all.

She’s more of an onlooker during the celebration. After, she lays in a pool surrounded by beer bottles and furniture (what even happened here?!). Through it all, Miley delivers some mournful looks. However, my interpretation is that she’s ready to embrace a new beginning after the night before. It brings a sort of new meaning to lyrics like “you say that everything changed. You’re right, we’re grown now.” Emotional and innovative, this is yet another fabulous visual release from her SHE IS MILEY CYRUS era.

Hopefully, the video gives Miley’s new single a bit of a boost on the Billboard Hot 100. The track debuted just outside the Top 40 but has slid down a couple slots since then. A burst of promo following her exceptional performance at the 2019 VMAs and this should be enough to hopefully send it rocketing back up the chart. Check it out below and let us know if you agree.
