OneRepublic Returns With Relatable Ode To Being “Wanted”

OneRepublic has been slowly chipping away at material for their fifth album for a while now. They introduced the still-untitled project with “Connection” last summer. After that, they went unexpectedly quiet with the exception of a few standalone collaborations. This year, the club-ready “Rescue Me” followed. Today (September 6), they bless another New Music Friday with the latest taste of the tracklist – “Wanted.” And it’s another instantly relatable gem from Ryan Tedder & Co.

Over a production courtesy of Tedder, Brent Kutzle and Tyler Spry, the band opens up about the universal desire to feel needed. It’s similar subject matter for fans of “Connection.” However, it comes to life in a new manner over a lush instrumental. “I just want to be wanted, I could use a little love sometimes. I just need to be needed. Like to know I’m crossing someone’s mind,” Ryan pleads on the chorus. “I just wanna be someone that somebody needs. I just want to be more than a drop in the sea.”

They paired the future hit with a video directed by Christian Lamb. In it, the hitmakers perform while a group of ballerinas dance around them. Give it a view and fall in love with “Wanted” below.
