Ben Platt Dances In The “Rain” In His New, Neon-Soaked Video

Ben Platt’s “Rain” was one of the happiest surprises of August. After carving out a niche as a purveyor of heart-crushing ballads on Sing To Me Instead, the Dear Evan Hansen star decided to switch things up. Produced by Alex Hope, “Rain” finds the multi-hyphenate dabbling in dance-pop to great effect. “Hey! I know we’ve both been afraid but we can’t run from the wind and the thunder,” he belts on the sing-along chorus. “When we’re dancing under the rain, the rain, the rain.”

The video for the stand-alone single arrives today (September 10) and it’s a neon-soaked odyssey. Directed by James Larese, the clip finds our hero on the receiving end of a heavy text. Just as Ben is building up the courage to reply, his phone dies. From there, he indulges in a little choreography and breaks into an empty store to dance on the counter. Oh, and there’s plenty of wet weather. In addition to dropping adorable videos, the 25-year-old also has a Netflix concert special on the way as well as a new TV series called The Politician.
