OneRepublic is the latest act to feature on an episode of NBC’s Songland and walk away with a hit. Pitched by songwriter JT Roach, “Somebody To Love” might just be the best song to emerge from the series. “Never could imagine the way the story happened, you with someone new,” Ryan Tedder sings over muted synths. “Used to be your focus, now you don’t even notice when I leave the room.” That leads us to the anthemic, stadium-rock chorus that marks all of the band’s best releases.

“And it kills me to know that you found somebody to love (somebody to love),” he belts. “Tell me how can I go on without somebody to love (somebody to love).” The response to the song has instant. “Somebody To Love” is already sitting at number two on iTunes and could be the first track from Songland to garner radio support. It thoroughly deserves it. If you’re looking for more Songland gems, I recommend Leona Lewis’ “Solo Quiero” and Jonas Brothers’ “Greenlight.” Listen to OneRepublic’s new hit.
