Charlie Puth's 'I Warned Myself'
Charlie reinvents himself (again) with the minimal R&B of 'I Warned Myself.'

Charlie Puth introduced his third album with “I Warned Myself” in August. The edgy, minimal track showcased the singer/songwriter’s darker side, but he now rebounds with a feel-good bop. “Mother” dropped today (September 12) and it’s the kind of instantly hummable anthem that we have come to expect from the hitmaker. “He’s such a nice boy, so well-mannered, he’s so much better than the last one you brought around,” Charlie begins the song over slick synths. “I’m gonna make sure that she knows I’m the best she’s found.”

There’s a twist, however. “If your mother knew all the things we do,” the 27-year-old sings in his now trademark falsetto on the chorus. “If your mother knew she’d keep me so far from you.” It’s fun, summery and interpolates a Michael Jackson classic (“The Way You Make Me Feel”). What more could you want? Charlie also dropped the video this morning and it finds him soaking up some rays by the pool and riding around in the back seat of a car. He leaves the shenanigans to a group of kids, who run around and do teenage things. Watch below.
