Mary Lambert Announces Sophomore LP, ‘Grief Creature’
Mary Lambert exploded into our hearts and minds as the featured artist on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love.” The singer, songwriter and occasional poet even shared the stage with Madonna when she performed the song at the 56th Grammy Awards. Yes, the iconic performance where Queen Latifah also officiated 33 same-sex weddings. Since then, the 30-year-old has released a very good album called Heart On My Sleeve (“Secrets” is still a serotonin-raising bop) and a self-released EP called Bold.
She’s now ready to released her long-awaited sophomore LP, Grief Creature. Mary describes the album as “very sad and very good,” which makes a lot more sense after reading the presser. “Drawing on a breakup, a house fire, a major bipolar episode, and ‘lots and lots of therapy,’ [Mary] built this [project] out of five years through 20 different incarnations and arrived at a definitive collection.” Sounds epic! Grief Creature drops on November 15. See the full tracklist below.
