UPDATE: You can now check out the official music video for Mariah Carey’s “In The Mix” below.

It’s here, and it was definitely worth the wait! Today (September 17) Mariah Carey graced our ears with “In The Mix.” The 5-octave earth angel’s new anthem serves as the theme song for ABC’s upcoming series mixed-ish. And it is a vibrant bop with a seriously empowering message. “They keep trying, but they can’t stop us. ‘Cause we got a love that keeps rising up,” Mimi sings on the opening lines. “Yeah they fight it. But we just proceed to be who we are. Baby, you and me.” That leads into the infectious chorus.

“In the mix, life turns around. Round and round it goes. It’s a mixed up world. That’s for sure. But in the mix, we’re gonna get by on our own. Side by side,” she vows. “I got you. You got me.” Toss in a guitar solo and some signature soaring runs, and you’ve got a winning formula right here. The Caution legend opened up what drew her to the new series a couple weeks ago. “As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part of mixed-ish,” she gushed.

“I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix’ for Kenya [Barris] and the show.” All things considered this could easily net Mimi a serious hit. Give it a listen below and let us know if you agree.
