Lizzo Poses For ‘Billboard,’ Talks Breaking The Mold
Lizzo celebrates her breakthrough year by landing on the cover of Billboard. And not just any cover, it’s their Grammy preview. In addition to posing for a series of stunning pics, the “Truth Hurts” hitmaker also speaks about breaking the mold. “I can do anything, you know?” the 31-year-old states accurately. “You want a polished, choreographed performance? I can give you that. You want a wild rock & roll show? I can give you that. You want to feel like you’re in church? I can give you that.”
It turns out mainstream success, however, is never something she expected. “I saw myself as a successful musician, and I visualized it like, ‘Man, I want to have a career like Björk, where I can put out albums and do exclusive shows and do a whole flute album like that bitch did,'” Lizzo reveals. “This shit is way different. I’m like, ‘VMAs, BET Awards?’ That is wild to me.” And as for the synch that launched “Truth Hurts” into the stratosphere? “I get so many emails every single day about synch requests,” the breakout star remembers. “I look through it, make sure it’s not problematic, and I say, ‘Approved.'”
