UPDATE: Adam Levine stars in Maroon 5’s “Memories” video. Watch him in action below.

Maroon 5 is back. The veteran rockers have been relatively quiet since taking the stage for the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show back in February. That’s largely because they spent the last year touring the globe in support of Red Pill Blues. But today (September 20) they return with their new single “Memories.” And it’s a surprisingly stripped-back, all too relatable drinking song. On it, Adam Levine details an emotional trip down memory lane. “Toast to the ones here today. Toast to the ones that we lost on the way,” he sings. “‘Cause the drinks bring back all the memories.

“And the memories bring back memories, bring back you.” Adam opened up about the song’s message during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1. After the incredible success of “Girls Like You,” the chart-toppers wanted to try something different. What were they shooting for? A song that was “not about relationships and not about the broken relationships of the past,” he said. “And I think it’s an amazing moment to have something that forces all of us to take a look at… something that makes us innately human, which is exploring loss and the things that have happened.”

Personally, I’m loving the new direction. Give the single a listen below and let us know if you agree.
