We speak to the Depeche Mode frontman about his Soulsavers side-project.

Concert films are all the rage in 2019. Shakira is bringing her El Dorado World Tour to more than 2000 theaters on November 13, while INXS fans can enjoy a fully restored version of Live Baby Live on the big screen on December 9. Joining them is Depeche Mode. Their upcoming film, Spirits In The Forest, will be released theatrically on November 21. But this time, there’s a twist. While the aforementioned pop icons focus on a particular performance, the iconic synth-pop outfit looks at the effect of their music on fans.

According to the presser, the film “delves deeply into the emotional stories of six special Depeche Mode fans from across the globe, giving audiences a unique look into music’s incredible power to connect and empower people.” That certainly comes across in the trailer. One woman reveals how the band’s music helped her survive childhood trauma, while another reveals that Depeche Mode was the only thing she remembered after a life-threatening accident. Those stories are interwoven with concert footage to impressive effect.
