Becky G Teams Up With BTS’s j-hope on “Chicken Noodle Soup”
Becky G is an unstoppable force. The hard-working 22-year-old pops up every few weeks with another bop. Earlier this month she dropped her catchy anthem “Secrets,” which she paired with a haunting viral video. Well, she’s back again. This time she joins the New Music Friday fray with a seriously danceable banger. And it finds her collaborating with another prolific superstar: BTS member j-hope. The duo began teasing their duet earlier this week with some cryptic tweets. “Soooo,” the “Banana” star wrote, “#BeckyHasAnotherSecret.” She got a rapid response from the BTS account, which sparked speculation that something was on the way.
Fans were correct. Today (September 27) they link up on “Chicken Noodle Soup.” The trilingual anthem (the pair sings in English, Spanish and Korean) pays tribute to one of their childhood favorites – Webstar and Young B’s similarly titled release. On it, j-hope and Becky get a little nostalgic. “We always got love for where we come from,” she sings. “So let ’em know what’s up.” They also paired the track with a video, which is predictably incredibly choreographed. And it’s already going very viral. At the time of publishing, the visual is closing in on 6 million views. Not only that, but the single claimed the top spot on US iTunes.
If things continue at this pace, Becky will be on track to net her first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. I can’t think of a more deserved honor. Check out “Chicken Noodle Soup” below and let us know what you think about the collab.
