Charlie Puth's 'I Warned Myself'
Charlie reinvents himself (again) with the minimal R&B of 'I Warned Myself.'

Charlie Puth’s much-anticipated third LP is slowly starting to take shape. The 27-year-old kicked off the era by reinventing himself with a minimal R&B anthem called “I Warned Myself.” He then switched it up with “Mother,” a cheeky party jam about being a wolf in sheep’s clothing. The message is clear, expect the unexpected from CP3. A point that is driven home by the arrive of “Cheating On You.” Ignore the deceptive title. This is a romantic mid-tempo bop about missing an ex.

“It started with a kiss on your mama’s couch, 2012 was nothing serious,” Charlie begins the song. “And then we caught the feels, it got really real.” Unfortunately, things didn’t work out. “I know I said goodbye and baby you said it too,” he belts on the instantly addictive chorus. “But when I touch her I feel like I’m cheating on you.” It turns out that “Cheating On You” isn’t autobiographical. “This song is not about a person,” he informs the viewer at the start of the video (below). “It’s about a feeling I’ve never had.”
