Dove Cameron’s career as a pop hitmaker has well and truly taken flight. After cutting her teeth with a series of soundtrack contributions correlating with her acting work and dreamy covers, the 23-year-old launched her artist project with “Waste” and “Bloodshot.” Since arriving, both tracks have performed well on streaming services. That’s especially the case for the former, which amassed more than a million Spotify streams and YouTube views. Today (October 8), Dove turns her attention to the latter with the release of an official video.

On the hazy track, Dove details the painful aftermath of a breakup with frank honesty. “My friends say I’m losing my mind and my parents check in all the time, but it’s harder to see you’re not mine with my bloodshot eyes,” she admits. She’s obviously going through it. And that is emphasized in the black-and-white, Blythe Thomas-directed video. Shot on location at Malibu Canyon Ranch in Calabasas, California, it finds the rising star looking appropriately moody as she deals with the implications of her broken heart.

Simple but very effective, it’s the perfect companion piece for the song. Give it a view below and let us know if you agree.
