UPDATE 1: That was quick! Hayley Kiyoko announced plans to drop her first new song “Demons” this Friday (October 11). Check out the cover art below.

UPDATE 2: “Demons” is here. Hayley opened up about the track in a press release. “Demons is really personal to me” she explained. “I had the chorus lyrics written in my notes ‘please forgive me I’ve got demons in my head, trying to feed me lies until I’m dead’. There was something so haunting about it I wanted to try to turn it into something positive. I wanted to sing about mental health and battling the inner ‘demons’ many of us struggle with. But with a heavy upbeat track that everyone can sing and support you with. It’s so important for people struggling to realize that they’re not alone and I hope this song can play a part in sparking that realization.” Give the song a listen below.

This is exciting news! New music from Hayley Kiyoko is on the horizon. Earlier this summer the 28-year-old relaunched with “I Wish.” The painfully relatable anthem finds Lesbian Jesus opening up about the pitfalls of love and her desire for affection. And it sounds like more emo bops will be arriving very shortly. Today (October 9), she took to Instagram to announce a new project called I’m Too Sensitive For This Shit. She introduced it with some earnest self-reflection. “I find myself constantly discovering who I am while battling new demons. Everyday is something new,” she explained.

“Sometimes it’s scary to face head on as it challenges us to be braver.” It’s a very human feeling, and Hayley delivered it with a positive spin. “Whatever it may be, this internal struggle is what makes us complex, special beings who deserve to find strength.” Where does her new music come in? “Soooooo,” she wrote, “as a tribute to this journey, I’m going to release a collection of songs from now through January. This project is about all of these feelings I’ve been learning to embrace because they are what make me, well, me. And it’s dedicated to you.” Currently it’s unclear if the end result will be her sophomore album or an EP.

We’ll have to wait and see. Either way, it is definitely good to know that we can look forward to several new songs through the remainder of the year. Check out Hayley’s full announcement and the evocative cover art below.

I find myself constantly discovering who I am while battling new demons. Everyday is something new. Sometimes it’s scary to face head on as it challenges us to be braver. Maybe our brains just tick a little differently. Maybe we have a monster inside our head trying to distract us. Maybe we are always looking for a reason to run. Whatever it may be, this internal struggle is what makes us complex, special beings who deserve to find strength. Because we will. :) Soooooo as a tribute to this journey, I’m going to release a collection of songs from now through January. This project is about all of these feelings I’ve been learning to embrace because they are what make me, well, me. And it’s dedicated to you. I hope you love them like I love you.
