The One Direction boys really are doing us in lately. In the last few weeks we’ve been blessed with exceptional content from Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and ZAYN. The only artist missing was Harry Styles. But have no fear. Because he’s here now. And his new material was most certainly worth the wait. Today (October 11) the 25-year-old launched his sophomore era with “Lights Up.” Produced by Tyler Johnson, the track is a striding anthem that perfectly highlights his evocative voice. “All the lights couldn’t put out the dark running through my heart,” he sings. “Lights up, and they know who you are. Know who you are. Do you know who you are.”

That leads into a sweeping bridge. “Shine. Step into the light. Shine. So bright sometimes. Shine. I’m not ever going back.” It sounds like a hit. But it gets even better. The accompanying video finds the sweat-soaked and shirtless crooner in the midst of a sea of bodies. He also rides backwards on a motorcycle, shows out in a series of bedazzled looks and submerges himself in a pink-hued body of water. The latter makes for particularly interesting imagery that seems to harken back to the cover art for his debut album. Hopefully this is all a sign that his second LP is on the way soon. We don’t know much about the project just yet.

However, in an interview with Rolling Stone, Harry promised it was about “having sex and feeling sad.” Sounds good to me. While we await more information, fall in love with his new song and video below. Oh, make sure to watch all the way through to the cheeky ending, too.
