Ne-Yo Gets Festive On ‘Another Kind Of Christmas’ Album
Halloween isn’t here yet, but the Christmas albums have already started to arrive. One of the first (and most likely one of the best) seasonal offerings is Ne-Yo’s Another Kind Of Christmas. The R&B superstar puts his own spin on soulful classic like Stevie Wonder’s “Someday At Christmas” and Marvin Gaye’s “I Want To Come Home For Christmas” — and contributes a handful of originals. For example, he documents a Christmas Eve breakup on “Just Ain’t Christmas” and takes us to the islands on the reagge-tinged “Christmas Vibez.”
It’s hard to pick a favorite song, but the semi-scandalous “Open My Tonight” has to be in the running. This very adult Christmas carol finds Ne-Yo getting his present (so to speak) while the children are sleeping. If you’re looking for something a little more serious, “Talk About It” touches on the inevitable family drama that accompanies any kind of holiday. Another Kind Of Christmas dropped on Friday (October 11) and is destined to be in high rotation as it nears December. Stream the full album below.
