Nasty Cherry Rocks On With Cheeky “Music With Your Dad”
Nasty Cherry’s winning streak continues with “Music With Your Dad.” The fourth song from the alt-pop girl group’s debut EP (due in November) is equal parts satire and sass. “Don’t stay up too late, baby, it’s really not that bad,” lead singer Gabbriette Bechtel coos cheekily over Justin Raisen’s throbbing pop/rock production. “I’m just in the garage, making music with your dad.” And no, they’re not talking about practicing scales or laying down a demo.
“He just wants me, he just gets me,” they chant on the pre-chorus, before elaborating on the sugar daddy in question. “We have the same taste in whiskey, but you don’t even drink wine,” Gabbriette muses shadily. “He just bought me a Cadillac, ’cause I already crashed mine.” Honestly, goals. Since signing with Charli XCX’s Vroom Vroom Recordings, the band has already won a loyal following with alt-pop gems “Win,” “What Do You Like In Me?” and “Live Forever.” At this rate, their debut EP is going to be something special.
