Another New Song! Selena Gomez Drops “Look At Her Now”
Selena Gomez means business. The 27-year-old launched her latest era with a brutally honest ballad called “Lose You To Love Me” yesterday. Twenty-four hours later she’s back with her second new song – “Look At Her Now.” Co-written with Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter and Ian Kirkpatrick, the surprise release celebrates her perseverance after a devastating breakup. “They fell in love one summer. A little wild for each other. Shiny ’til it wasn’t. Feels good ’til it doesn’t,” she sings over simmering beats. Everything changes when the relationship comes to an end.
“Of course she was sad. But now she’s glad she dodged a bullet. Took a few years to soak up the tears. But look at her now. Watch her go,” Selena coos. Paired with an instantly hummable chorus, and it’s an absolute earworm that is bound to dominate radio for months to come. That’s not all, either. The “Bad Liar” hitmaker paired the track with a chic dance video. Watching her execute slick moves under color-changing lights really drives the point home and makes me very excited about the prospect of a live performance in the future. What inspired the generous double release?
“I felt having these two songs released back to back completed the story of how one can rise no matter what challenges life brings,” she explained in a press release. “Turning off the noise and living your life on your terms.” Selena had more to say on social media. “Here’s my special gift to all of my ride or dies! I created this especially for you. Y’all have been through it all with me and I thank you for pushing me to be the best.” Fall in love with “Look At Her Now” below.
