Ariana Grande Joins Lizzo On A Remix Of “Good As Hell”

Lizzo’s 2019 keeps getting better. The 31-year-old just notched a seventh week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with “Truth Hurts.” That impressive feat (achieved two years after the song’s initial release) ties Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX’s record for the longest time a female rap song led the chart. And instead of resting on her laurels, the “Tempo” goddess has other plans. Chiefly, she’s turning her attention to another retro anthem. That would be 2016’s “Good As Hell.” It hit number 20 on the Hot 100 this week and will likely soar significantly higher on the back of a remix featuring Ariana Grande.

Out today (October 25), their update on the empowering banger is predictably fabulous. Ari doesn’t sound remotely out of place on the rip-roaring production. Even better, she brings something new to the soundscape when she hops on for the second verse. “He better know my worth. There’s so much that I deserve,” she coos. “But I ain’t worried now. Imma let my hair down. He been trying it, but not today.” Those are fighting words coming from our ponytailed pop princess. Of course, no shortage of chill-inducing vocals are served, too. As if we’d expect anything less.

Does the end result feel a bit like an attempt to guarantee more success on the charts? Yes. But as Lil Nas X proved with his multitude of “Old Town Road” remixes, all is fair in the world of pop music. I’m also loving how this brings two of the year’s most successful female artists together instead of pitting them against one another. Hopefully they’ll ride the collaborative wave and gift us with an original song in the very near future. In the meantime, fall in love with their remix below. After doing so let us know if you think Lizzo is about to be responsible for two of the biggest hits of 2019.
