EDIT: The post has been updated with Rain’s mysterious, evocative “Lost In Motion” visual. The video was directed by actress Catherine Keener and her son Clyde Keener Mulroney. Watch it below.

Rain Phoenix, younger sister of River Phoenix and older sister Joaquin Phoenix, is releasing her debut album on October 31. River is both a love letter to her late brother and a celebration of her own artistry. Since the 25th anniversary of the actor’s death in 2018, she has been slowly releasing music including “Time Is A Killer” featuring Michael Stipe and the deeply emotional “Immolate.” The singer/songwriter now returns with “Lost In Motion,” a song that River penned almost three decades ago.

“I’d love for listeners to take away whatever nourishes them, whatever they need,” Rain says of the album. “In a wider aspirational sense, I hope we can think more about the reality of death during our lives, learning to celebrate the lives of loved ones when they die, and be more attenuated to death as life’s partner… to me, it’s like only seeing half of life if we’re not looking at death. I hope River can both be a source of solace for all of us who grieve and a life-affirming record.”

If the rest of the album matches the haunting, jazzy beauty of “Lost In Motion,” we’re in for a treat. Listen below.
