Sigrid's 'Raw' Approach
Norway's next great pop export tells us about her authentic approach to pop.

Sigrid has spent most of 2019 promoting her very-good debut album, Sucker Punch, but she somehow found the time to record an emotional ballad for The Aeronauts soundtrack. Produced by Steve Mac, “Home To You” is a stripped-back love song that exudes loneliness and longing. “Couldn’t wait ’till I go outside, wondering what the world be like,” the Norwegian pop star admits over piano keys. “I knew I had to change my mind, didn’t realize it would happen oh so soon.” By the time we reach the chorus, Sigrid just wants to go home.

“When I don’t know what to say, when I don’t know what to do,” she sings gently. “There’s a room I need to sit in, surrounded by my favorite view and I need a hand to hold — So [if] I’m to tell the truth, would it be okay if I came home to you?” As usual, Sigrid takes a less-is-more approach, conveying emotion with nuance and sincerity instead of battering the listener with sentimentality. It’s a winning formula that pays dividends yet again. Listen to the breakout star’s new ballad below.
