Bon Jovi Salutes Veterans & Service Animals On Gritty “Unbroken”

Bon Jovi has kept a low profile since reissuing This House Is Not For Sale with a couple of new tracks in 2018. The band is willing to make a rare, off-cycle appearance, however, for a good cause. They join the New Music Friday lineup with “Unbroken,” a new song from To Be Of Service — a documentary about veterans and service animals. Jon Bon Jovi & Co. capture the horrors of war in great detail on the sprawling, 6-minute anthem. “I got this painful ringing in my ear from an IED last night,” Jon sings in a moving verse. “But no lead-lined humvee war machine could save my sergeant’s life.”

For the chorus, the band directs a prayer to Him. “God of mercy, god of light, save your children from this life,” Jon sings emotionally. “Hear these words, this humble plea, for I have seen the suffering and with this prayer I’m hoping that we can be unbroken.” It’s powerful stuff. And all money raised from the song — download it here — will go directly to those affected by its subject matter. “All proceeds from your downloads will go to the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation,” the band posted on Facebook.
