Mariah Carey Gifts Us With 25th Anniversary Edition Of ‘Merry Christmas’

With Halloween now a distant memory, Mariah Carey is coming into her full powers. At the stroke of midnight today (November 1), the Queen of Christmas returned. And she’s prepared to celebrate the jolliest season in serious style this year. It all starts with a deluxe edition of Merry Christmas in honor of the iconic holiday album’s 25th anniversary. The double-disc set comes complete with all of the classics and quite a few surprises. That includes two previously unreleased versions of “Sugar Plum Fairy,” remixes and coveted audio from a 1994 concert at The Cathedral of St. John The Divine.

There’s a lot to unpack. However, the 5-octave earth angel isn’t done. She shined light on her defining holiday anthem: “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Starting at this time every year, the enduring standard returns to the Billboard Hot 100. Last year it reached a new peak at number 3 on the chart. But it looks like Mimi’s set her sites on cinching her 19th chart-topper in 2019. She started the campaign today by rolling out a new video. Comprised of previously unseen footage, it’s obviously a must-see. You can also purchase exclusive single versions of the track at her online store.
