Noah Cyrus Returns With 'July'
The talented teen is back with a heart-wrenching love song called 'July.'

Noah Cyrus’ “July” ranks as one of 2019’s best singles. A stripped-back, alt-country ballad about a dying relationship, the 19-year-old’s tearjerker has turned out to be something of a slow-burn hit. “July” is still gaining ground on streaming services months after release, racking up 65 million cumulative streams. That number will only increase with the arrival of a duet version featuring R&B star Leon Bridges. It’s always dangerous to tinker with perfection, but this is a nice companion piece to the original.

After Noah lays out her reasons for tapping out, Leon steps in to give a different perspective. “Feels like a lifetime, just tryna get by,” he croons. “While we’re dying inside, I’ve done a lot of things wrong.” The “Coming Home” singer does fire off a parting shot, however. “Find someone who gives you all of the things I couldn’t,” he sings. “‘Cause I keep fighting all the way, I let you down so I can’t stay.” Their voices combine effortlessly and this version adds another layer of misery to the saga.

“It’s such an honor to have Leon Bridges’ heart and voice on ‘July,'” Noah says in the press release. “I’ve been a fan of his for years, and to have an artist as credible as him, who is so artistically talented, who clearly loves music and puts his heart and soul into everything he does, is true a gift. I hope you all enjoy listening to this version, as much as we enjoyed making it.” Check out the new version of “July” below.
