Taylor & Shawn's 'Lover' Remix
Taylor Swift teams up with Shawn Mendes for a remix to dreamy ballad 'Lover.'

Swifties have been spoiled this week. Taylor Swift kicked things off by dropping a dreamy remix of “Lover” featuring Shawn Mendes and then turned her focus to the Cats soundtrack. Co-written with the legendary Andrew Lloyd Webber, “Beautiful Ghosts” is a sparse, surprisingly haunting ballad. “Follow me home if you dare to, I wouldn’t know where to lead you,” the pop star sings over production courtesy of Nile Rodgers and Greg Wells. “Should I take chances when no one took chances on me?”

That’s a reasonable question. The track really soars on the chorus. “And the memories were lost long ago,” Taylor purrs. “But at least you have beautiful ghosts.” There’s a high possibility that “Beautiful Ghosts” will be nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars. That would put it in direct competition with contenders like Beyoncé’s “Spirit,” Cynthia Erivo’s “Stand Up” from Harriet, Elton John’s “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman and whatever Dianne Warren has penned this year. Listen to Taylor’s anthem below.
