New Find: Griff's 'Didn't Break It Enough'
UK newcomer Griff builds momentum with the soulful 'Didn't Break It Enough.'

Griff ranks as one of 2019’s most exciting newcomers thanks to her extraordinary debut EP. The Mirror Talk arrived on Friday (November 15) and it is an all-killer, no-filler collection of songs that find the sweet spot between alt-R&B and pop. The 18-year-old, who burst onto the scene earlier this year with the raw, gritty “Mirror Talk,” kicks off the EP with “Paradise.” Produced by The Six, this is the musical equivalent of a pep talk. “Maybe I am down again, maybe I am bleeding,” she sings. “Maybe there is nothing left, but I’m still breathing.”

The UK teenager wills herself to go on in the chorus. “I’m gonna find paradise,” Griff promises. “Baby, I’ve gotta try.” She rolled out the video for the song today (below) and it aptly captures her quirky aesthetic. Other highlights on the EP include “Didn’t Break It Enough,” which ranks as one of the more relatable breakup anthems of the year, and “Sound Of Your Voice.” The latter is something akin to a post-breakup anthem. It’s about reaching the point when you realize you no longer stuck in the past. Listen to Griff’s very good EP below.
