From Billie Eilish & Ariana Grande To Beyoncé: The 2020 Grammy Nominations
The nominations are in for the 2020 Grammys, and there are some expected faces and a couple surprises in the mix. Every year, it’s a tight race to see who gets a nod during the biggest night in music. And this has been no exception. That really shows with a passing glance at the night’s Big Four awards (Best New Artist, Song Of The Year, Record Of The Year and Album Of The Year). Breakout stars Lizzo and Billie Eilish landed nominations in all four of the above-listed categories. Other notable entries include Rosalía and Lil Nas X in Best New Artist.
Meanwhile Lana Del Rey was recognized in both Song and Album Of The Year. Others in Song Of The Year include Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way,” Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” and Taylor Swift’s “Lover.” Speaking of Taylor, the Grammy darling is shockingly missing from some of the other big categories. The same could be said for Gaga. I expected the soundtrack for A Star Is Born to pick up a nod in Album Of The Year, however it was relegated to Best Compilation For Visual Media.
Other notable entries in Album of The Year include Ariana Grande, Lil Nas X and H.E.R.. Another particularly stacked category this year is Best Pop Solo Performance. That one is a who’s who of some of the industry’s most recognizable female voices. Who made the cut? Beyoncé with her The Lion King original “Spirit,” Billie with “Bad Guy,” Ari with “7 rings,” Lizzo with “Truth Hurts” and Taylor with “You Need To Calm Down.” Of course, no year is complete without some snubs. Keep an eye peeled for an article of those later today (UPDATE: It’s HERE).
Who will take home a trophy during the 2020 Grammys? We’ll find out January 26, 2020. In the meantime scroll through a selection of nominations below. You can see the rest here.
