With releases from the likes of Selena Gomez and Kesha already on the books, 2020 is shaping up to be a big year for pop music. And it just got bigger with official confirmation that Dua Lipa will drop her sophomore LP in the coming months. Taking to social media, the 24-year-old revealed the project will be called Future Nostalgia. Today (December 2), she spilled some additional tea in a press release. “What I wanted to do with this album was to break out of my comfort zone and challenge myself to make music that felt like it could sit alongside some of my favorite classic pop songs, whilst still feeling fresh and uniquely mine,” the Grammy winner explained.

“Because of the time that I’d spent on the road touring with my band I wanted Future Nostalgia to have a lot more of a live element, but mixed together with modern electronic production,” she added. Where did the title come from? Well Dua shared an interesting anecdote. “I remember that I was on my way to a radio show in Las Vegas thinking about the direction for this new record and I realized that what I wanted to make was something that felt nostalgic but had something fresh and futuristic about it too.” And who provided sonic inspiration for the “Don’t Start Now” diva?

“I was inspired by so many artists on the new record from Gwen Stefani to Madonna to Moloko to Blondie and Outkast, to name just a few.” That’s not all, either. Dua also announced plans for an accompanying tour. The European leg launches with an April 26 show in Madrid and runs through a June 19 set in Dublin. Tickets for most of the dates will be available for pre-order December 6 at 9 am local time. The only exception is any date in Spain, which will be available December 5 at 9 am local times.
