Katy Perry’s “Cozy Little Christmas” Video Is A Kitsch Delight
Every year, a new batch of hopefuls rolls out their attempt at crafting the next holiday anthem. While no one has come close to matching the longevity and annual success of Mariah Carey’s all-conquering “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” there have been a couple of valiant efforts. Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath The Tree” remains a firm favorite, while Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” is a joy-inducing country/pop miracle. And then, there’s Katy Perry’s very, very good “Cozy Little Christmas.”
Released in 2018, “Cozy Little Christmas” is three minutes of unbridled fun that probably would have climbed a lot higher than 53 on the Billboard Hot 100 with the benefit of a video. Katy rectifies that situation this year. Directed by Watts, the high-camp and surprisingly sexy visual finds our heroine decorating the tree, sunning herself with Santa, splashing around in a martini glass and getting a naked back rub from a reindeer. Oh, and there are animated creatures. Watch the feel-good romp below.
