Julia & Niall's 'What A Time' Video
Julia Michaels and Niall Horan's 'What A Time' video is suitably emotional.

Niall Horan dabbled in early ’00s Brit-pop on “Nice To Meet Ya,” but he returns to the stripped-back sound palette of Flicker on the followup. “Put A Little Love On Me” is the Irish star’s best ballad since “This Town.” Co-written with Jamie Scott, Daniel Bryer and Mike Needle, the second taste of NH2 finds Niall in the grips of loneliness. “Are you all dressed up but with nowhere to go? Are your tears falling down when the lights are low?” he sings over a simple piano arrangement. “Another Friday night trying put on a show.”

Strings — courtesy of Greg Kurstin — come to the fore on the lovely chorus. “When the lights come up and there’s no shadows dancing, I look around as my heart is collapsing,” the 26-year-old croons. “‘Cause you’re the only one I need, so put a little love on me.” While “Nice To Meet Ya” got something of a soft release, Niall is going all out for “Put A Little Love On Me” with performances already lined up on Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Jammy Fallon. Watch the classy, Cameron Busby-directed video below.
