Roxette Singer Dies At 61
Marie Fredriksson, better known as the voice of Roxette, has passed away at 61.

The music world is still reeling from news that Marie Fredriksson passed away at age 61 on December 10 after a long battle with cancer. The Swedish singer, who voiced some of the biggest hits of the ’80s and ’90s as one-half of Roxette, was particularly revered in her homeland. So much so, that she also had a successful solo career — releasing eight hit albums over four decades. It’s only fitting then that a group of Swedes came together to honor her by performing Roxette’s signature song, “It Must Have Been Love.”

First Aid Kid teamed up with Maja Francis for the moving performance, which was broadcast by Swedish radio station Musikhjälpen. The folk duo is known for their beautiful harmonies, and they effortlessly incorporated Maja into their stripped-back, country-tinged cover. “We wanted to perform this song as a tribute to Marie and her magic,” the Söderberg sisters revealed. “Tack för allt Marie.” You can watch First Aid Kit and Maja Francis’ moving interpretation of “It Must Have Been Love” below. Have a tissue handy.
