A New Single Or Era? Nicki Minaj Teases “Megatron” On Social Media

Nicki Minaj may or may not be coming. The rapper, who has kept a relatively low profile of late, set social media on fire this morning (June 12) by tweeting a single word: “Megatron.” She didn’t elaborate any further, but Barbz have taken it as a sure sign that a new single (or possibly even album) is on the way. The timing for a new release feels right. While Queen is less than a year old, it underperformed significantly and the 36-year-old will be eager to remind Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion who’s boss.
As for the title, fans have noted that Nicki used the word in her verse on Future’s “Transformer.” “Some call me Nicki, but some call me Megatron,” she rapped. “I’m stoppin’ bags and I don’t need a red octagon.” Could the “Chun Li” hitmaker be working on a trap project? It seems that female rappers are turning their backs on the ubiquitous pop/hip-hop collaboration in favor of a more hard-hitting sound. If Nicki throws it back to her mixtape days, the rest of the game will be in trouble. See her announcement below.
