Avril Lavigne drops the cinematic video for comeback single, 'Head Above Water.'

The return of Avril Lavigne has been one of the few bright spots on the pop landscape in 2018. After a five-year absence, the Canadian pop-rocker made up for lost time with the anthemic “Head Above Water” — a song that documented her lengthy battle with Lyme Disease. And it was warmly received. For a song that was stonewalled by pop radio, “Head Above Water” still managed to crack the Billboard Hot 100 (it reached a respectable number 64) and hung around the upper reaches of the iTunes download chart for months.

The 34-year-old will be hoping to best that effort with “Tell Me It’s Over.” Avril has been teasing the single for the last couple of days by posting a series of black-and-white pics (presumably from the video). She was even kind enough to include some lyrics. “Cause it don’t feel like it’s over whenever you’re closing the door,” reads one tweet. The hitmaker also revealed the striking cover art earlier this morning and announced the song’s December 12 release date. It is the second cut from Avril’s 6th LP, Head Above Water, due in February, 2019.
