Charli & Troye Go Back To '1999'
Charli XCX and Troye Sivan take us back to '1999' on their nostalgic collab.

They did what they had to do! Charli XCX and Troye Sivan stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night (November 13) and belted out “1999.” The pop stars’ rising hit is a nostalgic throwback to the turn of the millennium and they incorporate that era into their electric performance via costumes (think The Matrix or Berlin on a Saturday night) and a retro light show. It’s not easy for the club aesthetic to translate on TV, but they really pulled it off. While serving vocals and impromptu dance moves.

Produced by Oscar Holter, “1999” is Charli’s 5th (good) single of the year. I’m starting to feel like XCX3 is a figment of my imagination, but the Brit already has more than enough songs for a killer album. “Focus” is the most-rudely slept-on bop of 2018, while “5 In The Morning” went harder than it had any right too. Hopefully, the success of “1999” will inject a bit of momentum into the process. Watch the flawless divas in action up top.
