Yesterday (January 13), we posted the news that Ciara‘s new single will drop later this month. Well, consider yourselves lucky — “I Bet” made a surprise release via Billboard last night! As with 2012’s “Sorry,” the singer has decided to return to the music scene with a ballad. But don’t take it for a sappy love song — the new mommy is revealing her true feelings of her ex-fiancéFuture.

The Harmony Samuels-produced, piano note-laden tune finds CiCi deep in her thoughts, as she goes through the motions of feeling bitter (“Is that your bitch over there giving me the ugly stare / The one with the silicone ass and the Brazilian hair”), hurt and relief. It doesn’t provide the punch we were expecting like her monster single, “I’m Out,” but it shows a more honest side to the often-private singer.

“I Bet” serves as the lead single to the singer’s forthcoming sixth LP, the follow-up to 2013’s Ciara. Expect the project (which includes producers and songwriters like Polow Da Don, Dr. Luke, and Diane Warren) to be released in the Spring. Take a listen below.
