Tina Arena Unveils 2-Disc Greatest Hits LP
Tina Arena is releasing a 2-disc greatest hits to mark her 40th year in the business.

Tina Arena releases a career-encompassing greatest hits LP tomorrow. The 2-disc opus not only includes her iconic tracks in their original form, but also interpretations by Australian stars like Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas and, most excitingly, Dannii Minogue. It’s hard to explain the gravity of this collaboration to a non-Australian. But imagine Mariah Carey teaming up with the leading dance diva of the ’90s and early ’00s for some idea.

The lovely ladies remake Tina’s forever-gorgeous “Sorrento Moon,” which reached number 7 in Australia in 1995. Only instead of staying in ballad mode, they veer into Dannii’s lane — delivering a surprisingly on-trend, tropical-tinged banger. It sounds alarming, but it’s exceedingly lovely. The “Chains” diva sounds brilliant as always and her glamorous collaborator more than holds her own. The Young Talent Time alums need to get together more often and Dannii really needs to get back in the studio. There’s only so many times you can listen to Club Disco.

Why this song? “I picked Sorrento Moon to cover as a duet with Tina Arena as it’s my dad’s favourite of Tina’s songs, and her Mum and Dad’s favourite too,” Dannii explained on Instagram. “I was nervous in the studio — how do you reinterpret something that is already perfect??? It was an emotional process, recording this track, and now it’s something we’ll have forever.” Tina’s 2-disc Greatest Hits & Interpretations drops April 7.
