Dua Lipa Teases Her Sophomore Album In ‘British Vogue’

Dua Lipa’s sophomore album is apparently coming very, very soon. What do I mean by that? According to an interview with British Vogue, it’s only a “matter of weeks” before the “New Rules” diva blesses us with the much-anticipated LP. Out yesterday (September 2), the feature included some exciting details. “My new record is still pop and it is really fun, but it is definitely more conceptual,” she teased. “I had the album title and went from that. After listening to it, it kind of feels like a dancercise class (laughs). I’m not trying to take myself too seriously but as a record it does feel more mature.”

The Best New Artist winner had a bit more to say. Dua opened up about some of the sonic inspirations for the album including “Prince, Outkast, old Gwen Stefani and No Doubt.” That may sound like a strange lineup, but it didn’t surprise the hitmaker. “Juxtaposition has always been a common factor in everything I do. It’s very ‘me,'” she explained. There was also some discussion about expectations for a sophomore release. “Everyone talks about how difficult the crazy second record is, but in terms of writing it’s been way easier. I feel like I really know myself a lot better.”

How so? “I know what I want to write about, I know how to express my feelings. I know how to talk about things and to allow myself to be vulnerable.” As it stands, we’re still waiting for an official release date. In the meantime, check out the rest of Dua’s interview here.
