Fifth Harmony's Self-Tiled Album Review
Hot or not? We review the girl group's first album as a quartet.

It’s the end of an era. The girls of Fifth Harmony have officially begun the indefinite hiatus they announced earlier this year. Last week they played their final show together in Hollywood, Florida. Commemorating the event with a post on social media that thanked fans for their support, it seemed like it was time for the group to move on to new projects. But before doing so, they got together one last time to deliver a parting gift: a video for “Don’t Say You Love Me.” The Ian Kirkpatrick-assisted mid-tempo was a standout on their self-titled LP, and its dreamy visual offers some closure.

“Don’t say you love me when you don’t call. And don’t say you’re hurting without the scars. Don’t promise me tonight without tomorrow, too. Don’t say you love me, unless you do,” the girls plead with a loved one on the chorus. The message takes on a new meaning as they prepare for the next phase in their careers, a reality they brought to life in the soft-focus video.

Shot in an abandoned warehouse, they huddle around each other in dainty gowns before ultimately walking out of a door one at a time. However, in a possible allusion to a future reunion, the door gently swings open in the final seconds. Saying farewell to the last six years, they make sure to embed their gratitude in the final release. “Thank you for an incredible journey,” they wrote in a post.

Although the group will not be releasing content together, this is hardly the end of 5H. Each member has announced plans to move forward with a solo career. Normani Kordei has already found some love on the charts with her Khalid-assisted Love, Simon contribution “Love Lies.” The steamy R&B cut promises big things are on the horizon. Meanwhile Lauren Jauregui has become something of a club queen thanks to a handful of featured appearances including a high-profile appearance on Steve Aoki’s “All Night.” The diva hinted at more music in an exclusive interview at Coachella.

Ally Brooke has also netted a handful of collaborations including an appearance on Topic’s “Perfect.” She made headlines when she inked a solo management deal with 5H and Britney Spears’ longtime manager Larry Rudolph. Dinah Jane has been slower to spread her wings. However, recently she opened up about her goal of making music to “influence women to embrace their insecurities and their inner sexy.” As they move in new directions, the “Don’t Say You Love Me” visual provides a bit of closure to one of pop’s most successful girl groups. Watch them close out their era together up top!
