Fifth Harmony's 'Fifth Harmony:' Album Review
Hot or not? We review Fifth Harmony's first album as a quartet.

Fifth Harmony is the latest pop act to dabble in festive pop courtesy of The Star soundtrack. The girl group contributes a shimmery power ballad called “Can You See,” which taps into the animated film’s religious theme. “We’ve all been searchin’ for somethin’, Somethin’ that’s bigger than us to believe in,” Normani Kordei begins the song. “Who knew a star was so close it could touch us? Light up our hearts, lead the way through the dark.” That takes us to the cute chorus. “Can you see? Tell me, can you see the star?”

After a string of sexy bangers, “Can You See” is a cute throwback to the vocal gymnastics of the group’s pre-breakthrough YouTube covers and sing-alongs. In addition to Fifth Harmony’s new ballad, the soundtrack also includes new music from Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey (she sings the title track) and Zara Larsson (the Swede interprets “Mary, Did You Know”).
