Halsey Explains Why She Wasn’t At The 2018 VMAs

Last night (August 20), musicians flocked to New York City’s Radio City Music Hall for the 2018 VMAs. Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Madonna, and Camila Cabello were in attendance. However, several acts skipped out on MTV’s biggest night for music. One of those artists was Halsey. The “Bad At Love” siren chose not to attend the awards show and instead spent the evening talking about horoscopes with her fans on Twitter. When asked why she decided not to show up, she delivered all the tea. “Bc I directed all my own music videos this album just to have @MTV “#wcw” me to death and not nominate me for anything,” she explained in a tweet.

“So it didn’t feel right to go,” the 23-year-old added. Halsey dropped several videos off 2017’s Hopeless Fountain Kingdom over the last year. Most notably, she recently teamed up with Lauren Jauregui for “Strangers.” The pair made headlines with their defiantly queer love song when it first dropped, and the violent video was a definite blockbuster. It also continued the Romeo + Juliet-inspired saga that wove the visuals from her latest era together. Despite being snubbed, the hitmaker was not too upset. “I’m happy you guys liked the videos. That’s all that matters to me.”

Although she was not in attendance at the main event, she did show up for an after-party. Hollywood Life found photos of the “Eastside” artist emerging from Travis Scott’s party in the early hours of this morning. She was hand-in-hand with G-Eazy, so it looks like the “Him & I” pair have rekindled their relationship. Check out the shady tweet below while we wait for confirmation about the star-crossed hitmakers!
